In connection with FSC wood, Manon was curious about happens with all the leftover wood or sick trees in the rain forest. In a normal factory it’s left unused however, factories with an FSC sign use it for MDF. They make pulp from it and press it into panels.
The only negative thing about this is that people don’t like MDF. They use it for products they going to paint after. People see it as fake; it doesn’t give the same feeling that wood gives with the grain structure. Real wood gives the feeling that it had lived and you can literally see the history of it through the year rings.
To give the idea back of life, she wanted to give the MDF more value to let it grow and give it a more organic structure. Eventually, there are less trees chopped down if the use leftover wood.
